Lets lounge

Today I'm talking sectionals. Again here you get what you pay for. In my search for the perfect L shaped couch I have realized the plethera of styles, shapes, dimension, fabrics, and colors available.

Where is the line drawn for quality versus simply buying a brand name? Are the discount furniture stores like Domicile guaranteed to last all of 2 days and 3 spagetti spills? Is a Room and Board couch and investment worth making? Take a looksie at the 6 options below. Price range from $1000 - $4000 and I can't tell that much of a difference. Do I go mid-range and save some cash for my beloved Horse photo? I say totes.

(All options need new colored/textured pillows asap)

Summer Love.

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

summer to me:
tan legs, late nights, early mornings, bare feet, locusts, thunderstorms, books, walks, green grass, lakes, laughter, memories, crickets, long vacations, lazy days, sunshine, moon glow, friends, family, food, fun.
and love.

Where the magic happens...

isn't that the worst phrase ever. Ewww ridiculous person on cribs, don't say that.

New apartment equals new bed. I know what I want: queen, upholstered, nailheads, neutral.

Questions that run through my head all day while I should be paying attention in meetings or calling clients: tufted? grey? tan? square? arched? bedding color with beige bed? bedding color with grey bed?  accent pillows color? do I need all new pillows? Excessive I know.

Back to the bed. Perfect bed Collette from Crate and Barrel
Close variation from Joss and Main. Do not know the fabric or quality. BUT 1/2 the price
West Elm Square top. Plain but doable
Skyline grey upholstered bed. Questionable cheap, metal legs that I am not feelin

Old Town

After much a do about finding the perfect apartment, I have found my future home. I could not be happier about joining my favorite Chicago community, Old Town. Wells Street is lined with boutique shops, great food, multiple ice cream spots, and the bars I frequent more than I care to share. The world is my oyster, or um, Old Town is my fish taco.

Now the important part and really the reason I am back on the blagin (blogging wagon, cute right?) - Decorating. I read blogs everyday, I love design, HGTV, magazines. However, I am having trouble pulling the trigger on all things interior design when it comes to this apartment. It may be that I want to do the most with my mere 800 sq ft. It may be that I am too frugal and always think I will get a better deal. Or maybe I just don't know as much as I think I do. Either way, this blog is my new space for thought.

Ode to Fall

There are so many wonderful fall images floating around the blogosphere I had to share my favorites.
Fall is truly the most amazing time of year. Crisp air, pumpkin flavors, sweater weather, autumnal colors. I write this post dressed in full November garb: cynthia vinvent long sweater with elbow patchs, black skinnies, wigman socks, tall boots, Essie Bobbing for Baubles, hot coffee. I am a happy girl.

100 Years of Style

I recently had to attend Wrigley's 3 1/2 hour presentation of 100 Years of Gum. I prefer this 100 second review of style. Enjoy
